Our story

About home section

Experience the history. Capture the Silence. Savor the food.

The quiet village of Eyrarbakki, now home to about 550 people, was once the center of trade between Iceland and Denmark. Eyrarbakki reached its peak in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and many old houses, including Rauða Húsið and the church next-door, date back to this time.

from the birthplace of lobster fishing

Icelandic langoustine

The Icelandic lobster fishing industry was born in Eyrarbakki in 1954. Since then, the locals have been enjoying it in many forms, and it features in many of our dishes, from lobster soup to Surf & Turf. Of course, we also have a variety of other dishes, including fish, lamb, and vegetarian offerings, as well as sumptuous desserts.
